June is National Smile Month! From Dr. Magness
With June just hours away, our team at Memorial Smiles want to tell our patients that June is National Smile Month, which means it's once again time to especially practice good brushing, flossing, good nutrition, as well as visiting your dentist regularly (as well as visiting Dr. Magness) to avoid cavities and gum disease, among other dental health problems.
After all, there's more and more evidence nowadays that suggests folks with gum disease are more at risk for serious health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and strokes.
Here are a few easy steps you can improve your oral health at home:
* Brush at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. Here's a helpful video showing you how to brush with your braces on.
* Floss everyday to clean between your teeth.
* Reduce your intake of sugary foods and drinks during treatment at Memorial Smiles.
* Visit your dentist regularly (usually every six months apart).
If you have questions about any of these tips, we encourage you to give us a call! We hope you had a relaxing Memorial Day weekend!
